BWX Technologies reports revenue growth and Navy contract wins
BWX Technologies reported $901.6 million in revenue for the second quarter, an 18% increase year over year, driven by expansion in government and commercial nuclear services. Earnings per share (EPS) rose 5% to $1.07 compared to the same quarter last year.
The company has signed more than $1.4 billion in contracts with the U.S. Navy to support its Nuclear Propulsion Program. This includes:
- A five-year, $1.3 billion long-lead material procurement deal.
- $165 million to procure long-lead time nuclear system components and manufacturing for the Navy's Ford-class aircraft carrier program.
BWX is the sole manufacturer of nuclear reactors and fuel for the U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier fleets and Virginia-class and Columbia-class submarines. The company maintains a backlog of more than $8.6 billion. It has raised its yearly revenue guidance to $3.8 billion and non-GAAP EPS guidance to a range of $4.70 to $4.80.
Commercial revenue reached $303 million in Q2, up 72% year over year, with adjusted EBITDA of $36 million, a 123% increase from the previous year. The company predicts 45% growth in commercial sales this year, aided by the purchase of Precision Components Group in July and the 2025 acquisition of Kinectrics, which serves the small modular reactor and traditional large-scale nuclear reactor markets.
