Ketchup Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the Norwegian animated film ViQueens, directed by Harald Zwart. The U.S. campaign begins this weekend with a teaser shown in theatres during Coyote Vs. Acme.

The film follows two Viking girls, Ingrid and Hedvig, on a journey from Norway through the Silk Road to return a stowaway boy to China. It features an international voice cast including:

• Ella Purnell as Ingrid
• Rita Ora as Hedvig
• Steve Speirs as King Erik
• Anton Lesser as Lars
• Alan Carr as the Bard

The production includes an original score by Christophe Beck. ViQueens is produced by Veslemøy Ruud Zwart of Zwart Arbeid and is represented internationally by Sola Media. While a U.S. theatrical date is being developed, the film is slated for a release in Norway on 25 December.

ViQueens has been a true labor of love, and I'm incredibly excited that audiences in the U.S. are going to get their first taste of the film in theaters this weekend.

Ketchup Entertainment's acquisition follows the domestic performance of Coyote Vs. Acme, which is approaching $37M at the domestic box office by Labor Day Monday and recorded a $15.9M opening.
