Campaign finance reports from the Wyoming Secretary of State’s website show that Republican candidates for House District 48 relied on different funding bases during the recent election. Rep. Darin McCann, who was defeated in the Republican primary by Rock Springs Fire Chief Jim Wamsley, received almost all financial support from outside Rock Springs and House District 48.

McCann reported $9,375 in contributions before the 18 August election and spent $7,097.58. Only one contribution, a $25 donation, came from a Rock Springs resident. The majority of McCann's funding consisted of $1,500 individual contributions from Jackson donors, including Don Grasso, Dan and Carleen Brophy, Lisa Meaney, and Debra Balbec. Additionally, McCann received $1,500 from Arthur Dantchik of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, the cofounder of Susquehanna International Group.

Jim Wamsley reported total contributions of $14,680.30 and spent $8,050.89. His campaign was primarily supported by Wyoming-based Political Action Committees (PACs), which contributed $10,050. Wamsley received $2,430.30 in individual donations and $2,200 in individual and personal contributions. His highest individual contributions were two $500 amounts from Robert Spicer of Rock Springs and former Speaker of the House Albert Sommers.
