Celebrity Cruises' Xcel and Ascent meet in Naples
The two newest ships in the Celebrity Cruises fleet, the Celebrity Xcel and the Celebrity Ascent, visited Naples, Italy, simultaneously on August 27, 2026.
The Xcel visited the port as part of a seven-night cruise departing from Barcelona. The Western Mediterranean itinerary included destinations in Spain, France, and Italy, specifically Portofino, Nice, La Spezia, and Rome.
The Ascent docked at Naples' Stazione Marittima Cruise Terminal during an 11-night cruise sailing roundtrip from Civitavecchia. This itinerary combined ports in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, including visits to six ports in Italy, Greece, and Turkey, such as Mykonos, Santorini, Kusadasi, and Souda Bay in Crete, alongside an overnight visit to Istanbul.
Both vessels belong to the Edge class; the Xcel entered service in 2023 and the Ascent in 2025. Celebrity's summer season in Europe also includes the following vessels:
- Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Constellation (Mediterranean)
- Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Apex (Northern Europe, British Isles, and Scandinavia)
- Celebrity Silhouette (recent itineraries in Iceland)
- Celebrity Infinity (Eastern Mediterranean and Greek Islands)
While most ships will reposition to North America in early November, the Millennium-class Celebrity Infinity will spend the winter sailing from Barcelona. Its itineraries include Casablanca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Funchal.
