Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell has won the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month award for August, securing the honor over teammate Caitlin Clark.

The decision has generated online debate, with some fans calling the selection a "robbery" and arguing that Clark's playmaking deserved the recognition. Both Mitchell and Clark have been identified as contenders in the 2026 MVP race, having both scored 34 points in a recent victory over the Connecticut Sun.

The Indiana Fever currently sit fifth in the league after 40 regular season games and are positioned to make their third consecutive WNBA playoff appearance.
