Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch to host US version of I'm A Celebrity
Peacock has ordered a US version of the reality competition series I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, titled Get Me Out Of Here (w/t). The show will be hosted by Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch, who previously appeared together on Season 4 of The Traitors.
The series, scheduled for launch next year, will feature a twist on the original format. Rather than competing alone, celebrities will be required to survive the jungle alongside a civilian friend or family member. The logline describes the format as follows:
"Stripped of every luxury – and the perks, privileges, and creature comforts of celebrity – duos face a series of physical and psychological challenges, earning rewards to avoid elimination. But here, the celebrities don't call the shots – instead, they must partner up, taking the lead or deferring to their bestie, all while the treacherous environment takes its toll."
The winning team will receive a $100,000 grand prize. While many international versions of the show are filmed in Australia, the filming location for the Peacock production remains unconfirmed.
The project is produced by ITV America and Blumhouse Television. Executive producers include David George, David Eilenberg, and Jordana Hochman.
This marks another attempt to bring the format to the United States. Previous attempts included:
- A 2003 ABC version hosted by John Lehr, featuring Melissa Rivers, Caitlyn Jenner, and Tyson Beckford.
- A 2009 NBC version hosted by Myleene Klass and Damien Fahey, featuring Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Lou Diamond Phillips, Janice Dickinson, and Stephen Baldwin.
