Meta launches new Meta Glasses collection in Japan with 26 styles
Meta has expanded its hardware footprint in Japan with the launch of its self-branded Meta Glasses portfolio. Developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the new product line offers 26 styles and lens combinations as an alternative to previous smart eyewear.
The collection features three primary frame silhouettes:
- Meta Adventurer: A rectangular frame available in standard and large sizes.
- Meta Fury: A substantial architectural silhouette.
- Meta Glasses by Kylie: A slim, oval profile created in collaboration with Kylie Jenner, with a premium Starfire edition starting at JPY 68,200.
Frames are available in colours including Classic Black, Classic Tortoise, Racing Green, Linen, Merlot, Mahogany, and Sandstone. Lens options include standard clear, polarised sunglasses, and light-adaptive Transitions lenses. The lineup supports prescription lenses from -12 to +2.25 diopters, with Meta and EssilorLuxottica providing post-purchase lens-replacement guarantees.
The hardware includes an ultra-wide camera for photo and video capture, open-ear speakers, and a multi-microphone array. The glasses are powered by a Meta AI assistant with Japanese language localisation, allowing users to use voice prompts to identify objects, translate signs, manage schedules, or receive recommendations. The device provides over 8 hours of standalone battery life, extending to 40 hours when using the included foldable charging case.
Entry pricing starts at JPY 50,600, which is approximately 30% lower than previous Ray-Ban Meta iterations that launched at around JPY 73,700. The Meta Smart Glasses are available across Japan via the Meta Online Store, EssilorLuxottica optical partner locations, and authorised retail channels.
