Joheirry Mola of Dominican Republic crowned Miss World 2026
Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026. The 73rd iteration of the international pageant concluded with a grand finale in Vietnam on Saturday, 5 September.
Elisabeth Reynes of Spain finished as first runner-up, while Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia was named second runner-up. The winner, Mola, was crowned by last year's winner, Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand.
During the preliminaries, Ugandan delegate Elle Muhoza wore a custom gown titled "The Layers of Life" by designer Keesha Abdallah. The outfit featured layers of white, yellow, pink and red fabrics to represent the seven layers doctors cut through during a C-section: skin, fat, fascia, rectus muscles, peritoneum, uterus muscle and the amniotic sac.
"The concept was inspired by the layers encountered during a C-section and, more broadly, by the extraordinary journey of bringing life into the world," the designer explained on Instagram. "Each color and layer was chosen to represent a stage, a texture, or a transition within that story — not to represent a particular race."
The 72nd Miss World competition took place on 31 May 2025 in Hyderabad, India. Suchata Chuangsri won that edition, becoming the first Thai winner of the pageant. Chuangsri used her title to campaign for breast cancer awareness following a health scare involving a lump discovered at age 16. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was the first runner-up in the 2025 competition.
