Leeds City Council has agreed to include the Stocks Hill Hub building in Armley among its list of Assets of Community Value (ACVs). The decision follows an application by the Idarah Ansarul Hussain Cultural Centre charity, which intends to acquire the site on Chapel Lane.

The ACV status allows an organisation to raise funds to purchase the building if it is put up for sale. If the building is sold, the sale can be paused for six months to allow charities to prepare a bid, though the landowner may dispose of the property to anyone at the end of that period.

The hub was closed as part of council plans to reduce the number of sites offering the Day Opportunities service from six to three, a move intended to save £500,000. Following an April decision, services at the Armley hub were moved to the Calverlands Complex Needs Centre in Horsforth.

A council report noted the following regarding the site:

"In a diverse and growing community such as Armley, facilities like the Stocks Hill Hub are essential in bringing people together, reducing isolation, encouraging participation and improving the quality of life for local people."

The report also stated that the charity advised the loss of the hub would have a significant impact on Armley, noting that community buildings are scarce and difficult to replace once lost to private or commercial development.
