Miley Cyrus has posted a tribute to her godmother, Dolly Parton, who died on Tuesday at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer and a series of health issues.

The 33-year-old singer shared her remembrance on Instagram, describing their most sacred moments as private. Cyrus noted that one of their final conversations focused on music and metamorphosis.

What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have.

The pair previously performed together at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019 and during Cyrus' 2022 New Year's Eve Party special on NBC. They also appeared in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana", in which Parton played the character "Aunt Dolly".

Beyoncé, who featured Parton on her album "Cowboy Carter", also paid tribute to the country music star on her website:
