NBC4 Washington news anchor Joseph Olmo announced during his 23 August broadcast that he is leaving the station and stepping away from local news.

Olmo, who has spent the last three years at NBC4, stated he is leaving to pursue another "dream." His career in the Washington, DC, region includes roles at Telemundo 44 and covering transportation for CW affiliate DC News Now.

"You can cover the world, but nothing compares to being a local news reporter," Olmo said during the broadcast. "Because think about it. Who else would tell you about all the things happening where we live?"
