Lancaster County awards $1 million grant to Lincoln Sports Foundation - sports news

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $1 million grant to the Lincoln Sports Foundation to improve its facilities. The nonprofit is located at North 70th Street and Arbor Road.

The funds are designated for several facility upgrades, including:

  • Upgrading the mezzanine to provide a better viewing area for visitors
  • Improving the restrooms
  • Improving the lobby

These improvements are expected to be finished by the spring of 2027. The foundation is also currently working on adding more volleyball courts. These updates are part of a five-phase project aimed at expanding the 150-plus-acre campus.

Sam Lesoing, executive director of the foundation, noted an increase in facility interest. The organization reported 250,000 visitors in 2022 and projects over 700,000 visitors by 2027, an increase of 500,000 visitors between 2022 and 2027. Lesoing said the foundation expects significant out-of-state tourism to the area.

“When we get grants like this, we can really maximize what we can do for the community,”

Lesoing added that the complex was run-down in 2018 and that reinvesting in the facility helps make it an asset for the community.
