The Big Ten Conference released a statement explaining why officials restored one second to the game clock during Michigan's 13-12 victory over Western Michigan.
The decision occurred after an initial Hail Mary attempt by Michigan went incomplete, which appeared to end the game. Following a video review, officials added one second back to the clock, allowing quarterback Bryce Underwood to complete a 41-yard touchdown pass for the win.
According to the Big Ten, the time was restored because a Western Michigan defender touched the ball while there was one second remaining on the stadium clock during the initial attempt.
