Actress Mila Kunis revealed that Natalie Portman experienced a physical injury while preparing for her Oscar-winning role in the film “Black Swan.” Kunis, who worked with Portman as a dance coach, shared the anecdote during a recent interview, describing Portman’s intense dedication to the role.

Kunis praised Portman as “so devoted,” emphasizing the rigorous nature of their training sessions. They routinely met for five hours a day, six days a week, beginning as early as 5:00 or 5:30 AM. These sessions focused on dance training to prepare Portman for the demanding choreography required for the film.

According to Kunis, the demanding training regimen led to Portman’s unusual injury. Kunis stated Portman “misplaced a rib” during the preparation, highlighting the extraordinary physical commitment Portman made to authentically portray the character of Nina Sayers. The film, released in 2010, explores the psychological and physical toll of pursuing perfection in the world of ballet.

“Black Swan” garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actress for Portman’s performance. Kunis’s remarks underscore the lengths to which actors will go to embody their roles and the sacrifices sometimes involved in achieving cinematic realism. The film’s success is partly attributed to the authenticity of Portman’s portrayal, achievable through her strenuous and dedicated training with Kunis.
