Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is taking over support for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) starting in April 2026. Previously, these services were provided by a health trust based in London.

This significant change will see the local NHS trust assume responsibility for delivering mental health support to young people in the Kent and Medway area. The transition is designed to ensure continuity of care for patients currently accessing CAMHS.

Patients can expect minimal disruption as a result of the shift. According to the trust, individuals will continue to see the clinicians they are familiar with, at the same locations, and utilizing the same contact details. This aims to provide a seamless transition and alleviate any concerns about changes in care.

CAMHS provides a range of mental health support for children and adolescents, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and behavioral problems. The shift to local control is intended to improve access and responsiveness to the specific needs of the Kent and Medway community.
