RPS Students Learn Budgeting at Finance Camp
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Rochester Public Schools students participating in the Personal Finance and Investing Class experienced the realities of budgeting and financial management during the district’s biannual Finance Camp held Wednesday.
The camp provides a hands-on learning environment where students grapple with the complexities of managing finances in a simulated real-world scenario. Through interactive activities and challenges, participants gain a better understanding of expenses, income, and the importance of responsible financial planning.
This year's camp focused on illustrating the costs associated with everyday living and the challenges of maintaining a balanced budget. Students were tasked with making decisions about housing, transportation, food, and other essential expenses, all while adhering to a set income.
The biannual Finance Camp is a key component of the Personal Finance and Investing Class curriculum, designed to equip students with practical financial literacy skills. The program aims to prepare them for future financial responsibilities and empower them to make informed decisions about their money.
Rochester Public Schools believes that financial literacy is a vital life skill, and this camp offers a valuable opportunity for students to learn and apply these concepts in a engaging and memorable way. The district continues to prioritize programs that promote student success both inside and outside the classroom.
